Day 1 of My Write a Book In 45 Days Challenge

A book with the words Write a book in 45 days Challenge written on it.

Some people plot and plan every single point in their novel, others get by with a vibe and an idea. I am somewhere in the middle. I used to only write based on vibes, and I wrote two books like that.

But then I had an ex who told me planning and plotting was essential to writing. I took this idea to the extreme, as one often does, but I soon realized that I dislike knowing all the twists and turns in what I was creating.

This moment was when I decided to have each outline can be different and should be, because each story had a different idea that it is trying to communicate. So now I just outline what I find as essential, the major plot points, the chapter guide, and a description of my characters.

So what did you do today?

Today, I worked on the chapter guides and took the time to properly understand the vibe of the characters. I wanted to do a character arc for each person as they grow and learn more about themselves.

Creating this outline has taught me that there is more to the story than I tell myself. I look forward to the surprises my characters has in store for me.

I have a few more chapters to outline, I know that I have at least five more, but I wrote like over a 1,000 words in my outline today. The outline does not count towards the 50k or more words that I have to write, but it does make me feel like I am getting something done.

See you tomorrow
