The end is in sight, but not for me. This project has taught me a lot of things about myself, but the most important is that art should not be rushed.
I don’t have an editor or agent breathing down my neck to get a manuscript done, so why am I rushing. To be fair, it might take a year before any of the work of fiction I make this year come to light.
It is important to take the time to create something I can look back on and be proud of.
This might sound like a confession from someone who failed according to the standards they set for themselves, but I would prefer if we treated it as a lesson.
Something I would like to take with me in my writing journey.
So what did I do today?
There is something about believing in a project that you will never publish. It might seem wasteful. Why write something that will never see the light of day?
It’s the experience of creating something that means something to me.
Now I have written over a thousand words today, even on days when it doesn’t feel like enough. I will keep going.
I liked the world reflected in the little moments where I look at the words I wrote and swell with pride.
